David Letterman (born April 12, 1947) is an American television host and comedian who has been a late-night fixture since 1982. He was the first NBC's Late Night host, after becoming a regular guest host on The Tonight Show, and is currently in charge of Late Show for CBS. Currently, he also produces his network follow-up The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. After his friend and mentor Johnny Carson, David Letterman has had the longer late-night hosting carrer of American TV.
